Gas in the oil, on my Honda cx500d is it the carburetor? what is the price to get it rebuilt?

The usual cause is varnished carburetors. Fuel left in the carbs becomes stale or varnishes. The result is obstructed jets and fuel passageways, and sticking needle (float) valves.

When float valves inner spring becomes varnished, it will stick open or closed and may cause fuel to over fill the float bowl chambers. Fuel will flow through the carbs and into the airbox, crankcase, and drain hoses.

The carburetors will need thoroughly cleaned to restore proper performance. See the tech files below to learn more about this common problem.

Check the air filter and clean the airbox if necessary. Check the airbox drain tube if the capped type. Change engine oil and filter.

Gasoline goes bad with time and in as little as 3-4 weeks. This effect is known as varnishing. Jets and passageways within carbs become obstructed when varnishing occurs.

Liquid gasoline changes chemically into a gel like substance. Advanced stages of varnishing results with the solid gel changing into a crystal powder substance. Interior carb surfaces are etched in the process and may require carb replacement.Gas in the oil, on my Honda cx500d is it the carburetor? what is the price to get it rebuilt?
Are you sure it's gas that is in the oil? I can't think of any way for this to happen on a bike. Especially involving the carbies.

An overflowing carby should drain through the overflow hose. Even if that was blocked, it would only overflow into the inlet port and into the combustion chamber when the valve opened. That would flood the chamber and stop the motor from starting.

Anyone else's suggestions would be of interest to me. They say that you should learn something new every day.Gas in the oil, on my Honda cx500d is it the carburetor? what is the price to get it rebuilt?
take the bike to the honda dealer and let

them fix it. no one can tell you how much

to fix it until it is taken apart and checked out.
