Which candidate will do more to lower the price of oil?

The argument against OBAMA is that him and Nancy Pelosi who patronize the notion put forward by the Sierra Club---the higher oil cost, the less will be used, the better for the environment. They have insisted that even if we lift the ban on offshore drilling it should be accompanied by a higher tax on oil to keep the price artificially high. They insist on committing down the path of renewable energy and not look back.

The argument against McCAIN is that he is beholden to BIG OIL, and thus doesn't want to see a drop in price which would reduce windfall----BUT unlike Obama, he voted against Buhs-Cheney's energy bill that rewarded Big Oil with tremendous perks. He wants to do EVERYTHING that Obama and Pelosi want for renewable energy BUT also insists on offshore drilling. There are actually natural occurring oil spills off teh coast of California thus we KNOW theres more oil off shore then on any current on-shore oil leases, and thus the prospect for increasing oil supply is tremendous. Many people believe that the mere prospect of more oil supplies will cause the futures market to immediately drop the cost of oil below $2.50 at the pump within months.

Who do YOU believe?Which candidate will do more to lower the price of oil?
McCain,

When he starts the nuclear war AKA WW3, nobody will be able to drive a car any longer. And the survivors will be riding on Donkey, which will force oil prices to drop tremendously.

Regards.Which candidate will do more to lower the price of oil?
Neither. HOWEVER

I believe we need to STOP borrowing money from China to purchase oil from Saudi Arabia.

I believe oil is a finite and non-renewable resource and we need to be building up renewable energy resource ASAP.

I believe any short term goal to lower gas / oil prices is futile : the global demand will always exceed supply.

I believe we need to pay attention to T Bone Pickens.

I believe Obama is the correct choice for president.
Neither. The price of oil will not be affected by either of these two men. It is up to them to begin getting America off foreign energy Independence, but that will take a long time. We won't see a significant drop in the price of oil for years to come...but only if the next president does something useful.
There's still no reason for a barrel of oil to be at $120, speculation and manipulation have driven up proces, and there are billionaires in the world who can do exactly that the way options can be bought and sold.

Changing the rules to dicourage that type of comodity price manipulation would drasticallly cut the price.

So answer: neither at this point.
Bush is beholden to BIG OIL too. And what about it? During his presidency price of oil increasing from 20 to 120 dollars for barrel. And McCain promises to continuing Bush's politics. I think Obama have more chances to improve situation.
Probably Obama, because he may look into the Oil Speculation MArket which has been shown recently to be controlled by a handful of investment corporations.
The President does not control the price of oil. It is supply and demand. So my answer is neither.
We need to drill, only fools and people with an agenda think other wise.
So far just the talk of opening up drilling lowered crude prices...I think McCain.
Neither. The President has no control over that issue unless he wants to nationalize our oil like Venezuela!
There is only one candidate that is going to do something about the trade deficit and budget deficit. Those two things actually have more to do with the price of oil then drilling or not drilling or any of these other 2 second fixes that the radio host are trying to fool us into believing. The dollar is being devalued because of our debt. That is what is driving up the costs of anything imported especially oil. Unfortunately, oil is NOT set by supply and demand. It is set by the market. Supply has never been an issue.

The candidate that is going to do something is Obama. McSame is going to keep the debt high thus the price of oil high.
McCain. By increasing supply with more drilling, and increasing the focus on alternative energy and conservation, supply will increase, demand will decrease, price will go down. Alternative energy will take 10 - 20 years or longer to have any real effect.

Obama is all about LIMITED alternative energy. You won't see him mention NUCLEAR power. He wants more RESEARCH into alternative energy with little mention of developing proven alt. energy. Liberals like windmills, just not in their back yard, or in the locations where they might disrupt the view of the mountain. Nancy Pelosi says we should use more natural gas to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels (???). I wonder if anyone has told her much of our non-fossil fuel natural gas comes from wells in the Gulf of Mexico? Obama was dead against any new drilling until polls showed the public strongly behind it. Now he wants limited drilling in only certain areas. What if there is only limited oil and gas in those certain areas? Obama will not do whatever it takes to see we have enough energy. Without enough energy to keep our economy growing, we are going to have serious problems.
