Why do Republicans blame Democrats for the current price of oil?

Republicans have controlled Congress since the early 90s. They currently make up 49% of Congress since the election only 1 1/2 years ago. The Republicans controlled both the White House and Congress from 2000-2006 and passed NO meaningful energy legislation during that time. They didn't start more drilling during that time. They didn't open up Anwar during that time.





What is obvious is you don't pay attention. How do you explain why the Republicans have done nothing during all that time?Why do Republicans blame Democrats for the current price of oil?
Duh....neither party wants this done. They all have their grimy hands in the pocket of Mr. Oil and the companies that are profiting from oil. They have the money to afford these gas prices. They don't have to struggle like most Americans for gas. Heck I don't care what side you are on in the political world Politicians are as dirty as they ground you walk on.Why do Republicans blame Democrats for the current price of oil?
Republicans don't blame democrats for high gas prices, it's a lie but I'm not a repub so I will blame them or at least Obama for a lager portion of the high gas prices. Obama stole the idea from Hillary to take the profits from the oil companies if he's elected. The oil companies are just trying to make as much profit as they can in case he does get elected. That coupled with the normal gas price increase for summer and you'll have your answer. If Obama does get elected and puts the new taxes he's promised along with taking the profits from the oil companies, you can expect the price of gas to go up to $10 or more a gallon. Thank your boy Obama for that.
Its the American people who are the reason for the price of oil. When we buy foreign goods, and use their car for EVERYTHING, even if they only have to go 100 feet, this is what will happen to America. Neither Republicans nor Democrats can make you make decisions that help your neighbors.





Will legislation make you be less lazy, and move your own body around instead of paying the Saudis to fuel your vehicle to get you down the street?
It's not just the Democrats or the Republicans. Both parties are at fault. We should have done something in 2003 when gas prices were at $2.00 a gallon. Economists saw this coming for years.





It's simple-minded to point fingers at the opposing side without taking any responsibility. I agree that Republicans had 5 years to take action, but the Dems have had the last 2 years and have done nothing either.
In 1995 Clinton vetoed an act that had a provision to open ANWR. Secondly, if you want to put the party who controlled Congress at the time into perspective, in the fall of 2006 gas was around 2.00-2.20 a gallon, the Dems have controlled Congress since, and well...
They won't drill so we all have to pay the bill.








If we would have been drilling in Anwar when the Republicans tried to get that bill through we would be getting over a million barrels of oil a day. What so you think that would do to the price of gasoline?
How do you explain how Democrats have done nothing in the 2 years that they have been in office when they specifically promised to fix the price of gas. That was their main running point remember.
I blame both parties, that means the previous presidents and congresses of either party.
06 did you listened to Nancy Poulos an all her friends and democrats .said they lower gas and get us out of the war .when gas start going up when the democrats took over you should think them .
The dems have blocked drilling at every turn
Both parties are to blame, but the Dems are stopping the sensible option of allowing US oil companies to drill in ANWR and off the US coasts. It is truly idiotic to stop this drilling. Also, the Dems have been against creating new nuclear power plants, which do not produce greenhouse gasses. The Dem plan is to allow oil prices to go up so high that Americans will be forced to switch from oil to alternative fuels.





The Dems plan to increase taxes on fossil fuels, also. That this policy would send our country into a depression and hurt the average American, does not seem to upset the liberal Democrats.

On July 1, citizens of Canada's British Columbia began paying a so-called carbon tax for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The provincial government is levying the tax on most fossil fuels, including gasoline and home heating fuel. British Columbia hopes the new policy will cause people to drive less and conserve more energy, thus leading to a significant cut in greenhouse gas emissions that allegedly contribute to climate change.
