I mean seriously, you people for weeks have been blaming Bush for the high prices, should you be thanking him for lowering them, even though it was just a little bit?
Or are you now going with the: ';The president doesn't control oil prices'; argument that the rest of us have been telling you while you reported us??Where is all the credit to Bush for oil prices dropping?
If he indeed was able to control prices, he should have done so way before this...This adjustment was because people drove less over the holiday.Where is all the credit to Bush for oil prices dropping?
I never blamed bush for this, I continue to blame the deregulation of the oil industry and continually ask why its not treated the same way as auto insurance in most states......meaning heavier regulation.
Yes, Bush helped shepherd lowering the regulatory restrictions and oversight during his first term......but its not like people were against this then. We just now have the proof of what was theorized then...
If capitalism and free-market economies are all about competition being the end-all-be-all, why oh why would we allow them to constrict as much as possible and basically setup monopolies of sorts. The ways in which we have allowed our media and other industries to conglomerate and form psuedo-monopolies is quite alarming.
low demand is the cause for lower oil prices for ';the time'; being, give it about a few days and some fool in the market will find an excuse to say we need to rise them again. Oil is the money maker now days, until our toilet paper currency can make some serious gains, expect investors to continue dumping money into commodities. I dont think Bush is to credit for lower oil prices, but more the fact ';We'; are starting to finally realize we cant afford these high prices and if we continue to feed fuel to the fire, it will only burn more.
Its Bush's policies that caused the run up in the first place in these past four years. He has run up huge debt that depressed the value of the dollar making all imports cost more, hes destabilized the Middle East and declining oil production from Iraq has had an effect. Having done these things, they won't be undone in a week, nor will the price of oil go down to a reasonable level of around $50 or so for a long time, if ever. We now have speculators in the market because they sense a place to make money now that the dollar is worth so much less.
Don't pat him on the back so quickly, he has made no policy change to achieve this, his old policies are still in place and under his watch no steps were taken to increase domestic production, although he had a rubber stamp congress for six years.
Sarcasm is almost impossible to get across on line.
Especially if you filled your tank this morning.
Oh, wow, for two days out of 8 years something ridiculously small of the positive kind happened, and it will last MAYBE a week, and you expect PRAISE? I realize your expectations are insanely low - you support a cross-eyed, illiterate idiot after all - but c'mon, get real.
But that's his job. He will get his fat lifetime $400k a year pension and secret service protection. He gets his own library and can give speeches for mucho bucks. If he is hurt by not getting thanked, he can cry all the way to the bank.
';oil prices are by supply and demand thus the fluctuation of prices.';
well.................duh. Demand is lower right now because we CAN'T afford it and are buying less.......the price dropped on oil.......I didn't see a drop at my pump. Osama farted raise the price again.
Bush deserves credit for nothing. When Clinton left office, oil was below $20 a barrel. It is now at $135 a barrel. What does he deserve credit for?
If we're going to give Bush credit for dropping the prices, does that mean he should take the credit for raising them? You can't have it both ways.
Don't worry, they will be back up tomorrow. Bush deserves credit for nothing.
Let me know when oil gets back to the price it was before the war in Iraq and then we'll discuss giving your boy a C+ or an F.
I do not report people....oil prices are by supply and demand thus the fluctuation of prices. read a Book Please!!!
When the hell did The Shrub do anything that lowered fuel prices? Damn sure hasn't happened around here!
Bush, ';Iraqi oil will pay for the war';
How's that working for you all?
